Q1Are the marquee hire prices per day?Go To Top A1We don’t charge per day. Our policy is to price per event. If the marquee hire period goes beyond five - seven days or encompasses two weekends then we would consider it as two events. However, we normally discount the price substantially in the second hire period. So pricing will relate to when you need the marquee installed and when you need it removed.

Q2Do you require a deposit to hire a marquee?Go To Top A2To confirm a booking we take 20% of the total value and usually the balance is payable once the marquee is set up and you are happy with everything.

Q3Do we need insurance to hire a marquee?Go To Top A3Our insurance covers public and employee liability, fire, explosion and storm damage. Security against accidental damage, loss, theft, breakages, vandalism, etc. is wholly the responsibility of the hirer once delivered and would be charged at replacement cost in the unlikely event of any issues. We can offer a damage waiver fee at 5% of the total cost or ÂŁ200 whichever is the lesser. We only offer this if the site is deemed to be reasonably secure and without public access.

Q4Can the marquee blow away?Go To Top A4The White Marquee Co only uses German designed and manufactured marquees that have wind loading up to 65mph. They are pegged to the ground using iron stakes 2.5ft in length on each leg or can be anchored using weights. So they are very robust and stable under the most inclement of weather conditions.

Q5Are the marquees waterproof?Go To Top A5The marquees are watertight and as dry and warm as an indoor venue. We always gutter and infill marquees that have been connected together to ensure seamless movement from one area to another without having to step outside.

Q6Are the marquee materials flame retardant?Go To Top A6All marquee covers, internal linings and carpet are fire retardant to BS7837

Q7When will you set up the marquee?Go To Top A7We aim to set up the marquee at a convenient time for you to give you and other suppliers (caterers, florists, band, bar, etc.) enough time to get set up in the marquee prior to your event. We normally like to be set up at least 24 hours before your event.

Q8When will you take down the marquee?Go To Top A8We normally start taking the marquees down the day after the event - even weekends and bank holidays. However we will try to fit around you as much as possible.

Q9What size marquee do we need?Go To Top A9Much will depend on what else you would like inside the marquee and how spacious you’d like to it be (i.e. reception area with sofas and bar, chill out area, dance floor, stage, etc.) Also, an assessment of the space you actually have would need to be made. However, using the following guide per person may help:

Square Metres
Sit down meal:
1.00 - 2.00
Standing buffet/canapés:
0.50 - 1.00
Standing room only:
0.40 - 0.60
Theatre style allowing 1m around all sides and an aisle through the middle:
0.60 - 0.80

Q10Can you supply the complete package?Go To Top A10As well as the marquees and equipment we can provide furniture, bars, lighting, power and heaters/air-conditioning, toilets, dance floors, stages and lighting. Our caterers would supply food, drink, kitchen equipment, cutlery, crockery, glasses, bar service and table & chair linen (click here to see marquee equipment and services)

Q11Can the marquee be heated?Go To Top A11Using thermostatically controlled indirect oil or gas fired heaters the marquee can be as warm as any indoor venue even when it’s very cold outside. The heaters are placed outside of the marquee and using a ducting system, blow warm air into the marquee.

Q12Can you create a marquee inside a venue?Go To Top A12We have years of experience of making the dullest looking venues into what appear to be beautiful marquees.

Q13Do you do traditional big-top marquees?Go To Top A13No, but we do offer German design and manufactured frame marquees. Modern frame marquees can now incorporate curves and peaks like the traditional marquees but without poles and ropes getting in the way.

Q14Can you provide a CAD plan of the marquee? Go To Top A14Yes, CAD plans can be provided to help you plan your event in detail.

Q15Can the sides of the marquee be opened if the weather is nice?Go To Top A15Yes, all sides can be opened and then drawn closed again as the evening gets cooler.

Q16The ground is uneven or sloping where we want to put the marquee. Is this a problem?Go To Top A16We have different floor systems for marquees. Where the ground is sloping or uneven we can build a levelled floor system so that the marquee is perfectly level.

Q17What other types of marquee flooring do you have?Go To Top A17There are two types (1) Interlocking boarded floor which will smooth out any unevenness, but follows the ground contours. (2) Rolatrac plastic decking is ideal for smooth flat surfaces especially for outdoor walkways and decks.

Q18Is the marquee carpeting new?Go To Top A18We only use new cord carpet. In our experience nobody wants a crumpled and stained carpet from a previous event.

Q19How clean are the marquees?Go To Top A19Cleanliness is very important to us and to our customers which is why we hand wash all our covers so they are as clean as they possibly can be for your event. After set up we check all our equipment for cleanliness and safety.

Q20What colour are the marquees?Go To Top A20All marquee covers are anodised aluminium frame clad with brilliant white flame retardant PVC to BS7837. We can provide an interior colour of your choice while ivory and black are very popular interiors

Q21Does the marquee have windows?Go To Top A21At no extra cost you can substitute the solid white walls for Georgian Windows to either take in the views or allow the daylight to flood into your marquee.

Q22What colours are the linings?Go To Top A22The standard is mid ivory by Custom Covers. However we can offer white and tack off as well as coloured swags or pelmets, roof and wall drapes to theme your event. We can also supply black out linings and starlight in black and ivory.

Q23Do you sell marquees?Go To Top A23No but we would be happy to point you in the right direction.

Q24Do you charge to come out and see us?Go To Top A24Absolutely not, all site visits are free of charge and carry no obligation to book with us

Q25I don’t have a venue. Can you help me?Go To Top A25We would be more than happy to recommend some suitable venues in your area. It’s also worth considering your local cricket, rugby, football and other sports clubs near you. They usually have plenty of flat space, facilities such as bar and kitchens and offer good value for money. The committees that run them always welcome additional income.

Q26What are the toilets like?Go To Top A26We only supply luxury toilets click here to see marquee equipment and services

Q27Do I need a generator?Go To Top A27Much will depend on how much power the catering, lighting, band and DJ require. For smaller events, extension leads can be run from nearby sockets. Or our electricians can run one large cable from the mains inlet in a nearby house or building to a distribution system in the marquee. For larger events or where there is no power nearby, we can provide a generator. In both cases we would also supply a 63amp heavy-duty weatherproof power distribution system taking a supply cable from a generator or mains to our master panel at the marquee. Then we would provide onward cabling via independent RCD protected circuits to all necessary loads including catering, lighting, bar, toilets, band/DJ etc. ensuring safety and reliability.
